Religious Education Committee

The Religious Education Committee is in the process of being formed.  Its purpose is to review, propose and implement the religious education programs after approval from the pastoral staff for the Parish community.

Religious Education Programs

Children’s Liturgy of the Word 
Offered for children in grades K-2 and meets during the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass in a room in the basement of the church. During the Liturgy of the Word upstairs, children are invited to a children's liturgy downstairs where they hear and discuss the Word of God in a way that is understandable to them. They return to their parents following the Prayers of the Faithful.  C.L.O.W. is announced at Mass, there is no registration, and all children in grades K-2 are welcome. Volunteers prepare the 20-30 minute sessions and lead the discussions.  C.L.O.W. meets most Sundays.  Hit the back button on your browser to view the schedule posted at the bottom of the main page of the Religious Education Committee.

I am Special
A program for children ages 3 -5 and takes place on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in Holy Cross School.. Children learn about creation, Scripture, and the Church. I am Special is a wonderful opportunity for young children to grow closer to God and form community, all in a loving context.  Parents bring their preschoolers to the classroom inside Holy Cross School and pick them up immediately following. Volunteer parish catechists are assisted by high school or junior high students.

We Believe
A program based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church for children in grades K-8 who are not attending Catholic school. Classes take place on Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. in Holy Cross School. Young people learn the foundations of faith including Church history and Sacred Scripture. In addtion, second grade students prepare to receive First Reconciliation and First Communion and eighth grade students prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Volunteer parish cathechists and Notre Dame student catechists are responsible for lesson plans and conducting the classes.
